Big Brother Thoughts: Week 1 Eviction Night

Thoughts:

  • Michael winning the veto to take himself off the block was impressive.
  • It would have been interesting to see superfans Daniel and Michael join forces.
  • Putting up Terrence as a pawn is bad for Terrance as pawns tend to continue to be put up as pawns in later weeks.
  • A lot of interesting developments surrounding Taylor as Michael’s replacement nominee:
    • The “telephone game” can always come into play in Big Brother. Unfortunately, Taylor was its latest victim.
    • Paloma’s straight denial of saying she would like to split up the alpha males and getting almost everyone to believe it was remarkable.
    • Ameerah has been playing strongly, as I expected. Ameerah asking Taylor whether Taylor told Monte that Paloma was gunning for the guys did seem like it could have been unnecessary, though (in asking that question Taylor could surmise that Ameerah had not been working alone). In a separate instance, Ameerah did well to cover her tracks when Pooch and Joseph confronted her about her interactions with Brittany.
  • I thought Alyssa showed some savviness in seeking out Monte, Pooch, and Ameerah to build another alliance.
  • Kyle’s strategy of attracting invitations to join alliances and not being the initiator of them is a very good strategy.
  • The manner of Paloma’s exit is really what you don’t want to see. It seems like sleep was a major factor and prioritizing her health was certainly the right move.
  • Daniel was put in a challenging spot given the game’s adjustments to Paloma’s early exit: now he has three people who he put up for eviction still in the house.
