Big Brother Thoughts is a weekly look at CBS’s “Big Brother” gameplay covering many of the topics we’ve been reviewing including strategy, persuasion, and more. Note: these thoughts will be based on the TV episodes, predominately from the eviction night show (not the “Live Feeds”).
Thoughts:
- Emotions are a big factor in the game and may have been what led to Nicole’s misinterpretation of Taylor’s intent. Daniel’s reaction certainly seemed emotionally charged as well.
- While Michael was virtually guaranteed to win Veto (from Nicole throwing the competition and Jasmine’s health scare), his string of veto wins could make him be seen as a strong competitor.
- “The Leftovers” alliance is intriguing; it will be interesting to see how an unlikely group of houseguests will fair.
- The fallout from nominating Ameerah and Terrance was an interesting power shift. From a purely entertainment perspective, the shock of those unaware of Turner’s plan was incredible.
- There was a lapse in situational awareness when Joshua, Turner, Michael, Taylor, and Terrance were in the backyard talking. Ameerah came out to greet them but luckily concluded (after talking it over with Daniel and Nicole) that they were probably just hanging out. However, I was impressed by the acting ability of each of “The Leftovers” the rest of the week. It takes a lot of awareness and energy to pull off such a big ruse.
- It will be interesting to see if Terrance shares with any of the other houseguests that Nicole is an ex-cop.
- I thought Ameerah had a lot of skillsets advantageous to the game, though I did think she might come off as too much of a gamer.
- The reveal of the final element of the twist (groups of two can become groups of three) was interesting. With Terrance joining Joshua and Monte, the trio should be pretty strong but may have a big target on their back.
